"Welcome and Farewell" is a half-scale maquette for a life-size sculpture intended to stand at the entrance to a school. The young adult is leaving the school holding aloft a key, representing their new found freedom and entry into adulthood. They are handing down the Book of Knowledge to the young entrant who is walking enthusiastically towards the school buildings, taking the book in both hands. The installation of the full-size piece has been hampered by Covid 19, but we hope to install this later in the year.
